No.  Your internship is considered a learning internship and you may complete the program with a tourist visa.  The tourist visas are valid for 90 days and may be extended for 90 days by leaving the country and returning. Santiago interns normally spend a weekend in Mendoza, Argentina(6 hours by bus).Buenos Aires interns take a short ferry trip to Uruguay.

The total period is between two and twelve months.  0-14 week Spanish immersion course, one week Internship Preparation Course, two to nine month internship.

4. Can I withdraw from the internship even after I´ve begun interning?
Withdrawal from the program will be allowed under  emergency situations, and follow the same regulations that apply for LILN Spanish immersion programs. These situations are defined by LILN, and include family illness and/or death or any extreme personal difficulty that forces the student to return to his or her country. If receiving credit, the student must provide written permission of withdrawal by a representative of the home institution to be presented to LILN´s Program Director.

5. Can I switch companies or internship positions once I´ve started?
Depending upon the reasons for a position change request, the student may be able to d so. We want to give you an exciting opportunity and one that you will enjoy.  However, due to the competitiveness of foreign internships, granting a change is not guaranteed. But again, the circumstances are particular to each student.

6. Are any of the internships paid positions?
No. Due to strict local labor laws and visa regulations, all of the internship positions are unpaid.  However, the work experience and Spanish knowledge gained is considered highly valuable in future positions.
